Hello There? Three's not company here
Hi hi hi gurlz! What happened to our blog? I have to apologise too as I haven't been taking any trouble to write even though I have not been baking for some time. A long time actually. The truth is that baking is a very expensive hobby to me and when I bake, its a treat. I can only do it occasionally and I believe you girls are facing the same feeling. Why not make baking a monthly affair? Instead let's write in this blog about every other subject including the pains of baking/cooking. Let me get the ball rolling..
I love baking and I love shopping for baking tools like unique cookie cutters too. I also love to look at those fancy electric batter mixers available in crazy colours. Most of all, I guess I love going to Cold Storage to get the ingredients for the cake or cookie I'm going to bake.
I hate the washing up ( as usual) and I hate putting them back.
I love the look on Muhun chitapa's face when he tries my cakes. Most of the time, the comment he has is that my cakes are too sweet, but otherwise, he loves being the bakery tester.
well, I hope I hear from you girls soon. Love ya so take care. Bwye.

Hi Shak! Hi Div. Shak, what a wonderful human being you are. Its so kind of you to do the research on baking a rainbow cake. Divya must be very proud to have you as a cousin.I would love to try it though I feel too lazy to get the procedure done. Hmprh! Nevermind then. Anyways, I'm fine. Varun's good too. He's been up to naughty bits nowadays. But as far as babies go, he's a darling.
I made chicken rice a few days ago during one of the weekends. It came out perfect and Muhun Chitapa loved it too. I wish to thank Eswari chinnama for the recipe and I would love to share it with you but I'm gonna gamble on the measurements coz I dun hav an exact amount measurement myself. Ooops...Varun's crying I gtg. I'll be back...

Dum Biryani- Saunthala's Way!
Yo gals! Here are pix of mami's dum mutton biryani! It tasted so good for a first timer and it was actually relatively easy to make. She took a mere 1 hour to finish it. She cooked the masala mutton first. Then partially cooked the rice in the cooker. Halfway, she took some rice out, added the masala mutton in and returned the rice to the cooker and finished cooking it. The dalicha was done separately. If you want the full recipe, pls call mami at +6591086990. Cheers!

Huh? Rainbow Cake recipe?
Divya, I think you can use the normal butter cake recipe but you gotta separate it in batches so u can add colouring to each batch and bake each layer of cake in a different color. Then simply glue them back using icing in different colours. That'll work for rainbow cake. Might I say it'll be a lotta work but you'll be soooo happy n proud. This is the final product. I took this pix with my hp, it's clearer. Me looking for next recipe now. I gotta go to the library to borrow more books. Also books on indian cooking since i'm cooking for chitapa more often now too. Hmm... maybe I'll go later in the night around 8 pm. I hope Chitapa can drive me there, saves me the hassle of public transport....let's see...my mom likes coffee cake though she's been asking me for Orange cake. Wow! This book even has a recipe for Chocolate Guiness cake!
Varun's fine dear. He's desperate to talk now so he keeps spitting saliva everywhere. Most times, his face is covered with sticky saliva n he seems content! A Real Boy he is, he hates when anyone kisses him on the face.
Div, I'm wondering if you're really gonna try baking it so lemme know k?
Shak, what's ur next venture babe? I'm gonna go to the library to look for more choices.

My Long Awaited Chocolate Cake!
Wow! What a wonderful day it has been. My mom and Varun was in such a good mood, I decided to use the opportunity to bake a cake...the long awaited chocolate cake. This recipe went fine until the icing. My icing turned out heavy n sugary altho its supposed to be light n fluffy. Gotta work on my icing. Anyway, here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
125g caster sugar
4 eggs
100g self raising flour
25g cocoa powder(sifted)
40g unsalted softened butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
1. Put sugar and eggs in heatproof bowlset over gently simmering water. Whisk with electric whisk for 5-10 min until very thick consistency.
2. Sift over the flour n cocoa powder n carefully fold into mixture with melted butter n vanilla essence until well combined.
3. Pour mixture into 8inch cake tin (oiled) n bake in preheated oven at 180C for 45 min. Turn out on rack and leave to cool.
For orange chocolate cake, simply add finely grated rind of orange to sugar n eggs whisking and continue as above.
I had a lotta fun and definitely destressed through the process. Let me know how urs turns out if you're gonna bake it too!

Yo! Did ya bake that?

![]()

Sorry shak, I've been really occupied with Varun being sick with fever and all. I do try to visit our blog but no time to write. Anyways, Is that something you baked? what is it? How did it taste? How long did you take to bake it? Recipe? Details babe?!? Wow,...2 more weeks to holidays ending. I tried baking a chocolate cake last weekned but it came out wrong. It sank in the middle (too much butter) and it burned on the outside without cooking much on the inside ( too much heat). I cant understand how I cud hav gone wrong when I followed Nigella's recipe for old fashioned chocolate cake. My chocohotopots came out perfect though. Sad. Gonna try again asap...
By the way, shakthi, if you come across any nice simple cake stands like this one, cud you lemme kno? I really want one! :) But they dun hav any in singapore.

The Greatest Chocolate Cake In the World? Where?

I want to be able to bake the greatest chocolate cake just like that! No measurements, no portions and no scales. I want to know my baking stuff like the back of my hand. So far, I've gotten the best sounding recipe from Nigella but the recipe uses sour cream and I'm not really sure what good can a SOUR cream do for chocolate cake. So, take a look and lemme know if you have any idea how the sour cream works here.
Nigella's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake:
Ingredients-
1.5 cups all purpose flour(232.5g)
1 cup sugar (250g)
1 tsp baking powder
0.5 tsp baking soda
2 tsp Vanilla extract
2 medium sized eggs
1.5 sticks unsalted butter,softened(169g)
1/3 cup sour cream (153g)
Method :
Cream all the ingredients together in a food processor and pour into a baking tin.
Put tin into preheated oven at 175 degrees celsius for 30 min.

Hi Gals,
Shak, I think you hav done a great job editing the blogsite. Its very inviting now and i would definitely want to visit this site every day if i cud. Nothing much these days except me going to make same ole Apple crumble pie with vanilla ice cream. It looks just like the one in the picture, only this one's a cherry crumble cobbler. The first picture is an apple pie but not crumble. Crumble pies r easy n delicious.
Here's what you'll need:
INGREDIENTS:
1 unbaked pie shell, 9-inch
6 cups peeled apple slices
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
.
Topping:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
PREPARATION:
(A)Fill pie shell with apple slices. Combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; sprinkle over the apples.
(B)Combine topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over top of pie. Bake at 200° for 45 to 50 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned.
(C)Serve with vanilla ice cream n butterscotch syrup.
YUM! Hav fun baking.
